Sunday, April 13, 2003 this whole firebird thing for my magical personality quiz reminded nix of the time that kevin (chu) called himself f|rebird on irc *lol* how embarrassing is that ?? to be known as f|rebird. of course, u all know the implications right ?? flame on !! *whoosh*
hahahahahahahaha
and i realize that the link in the previous entry didn't show up ..
so i'll just tell u what a satyr is:
satyrs were roman mythological creatures, half-man half-goat (i.e. goat men). many of them accompanied dionysus, pouring his wine and playing music on their flutes for him. silenus, who was the oldest of the Satyrs is said to have tutored dionysus.
(i wish i had people pouring wine and playing flutes for me .. o to be a roman goddess)
the most famous satyr is pan, the son of hermes and a nymph (whoa) and he was the god of green fields and guardian of the shepherds (being a goat and all). he also invented the shepherd's pipe, which he made from reeds apparently. so the guy invented the pan-pipe ?? or the pan flute, whatever.
ta daaa =) satyrs are quite cool what. don't know why they're weak "shadow creatures".
Friday, April 11, 2003 heeeeey it's friday. and thunderstormy =)) so i'm going to curl up in my bed and hibernate for awhile.
i'm so un-exciting.
all the interesting things that have happened lately .. well .. amount to zero. and i won't bore u with the mundane-ness of everyday life.
soooooooo *twiddles thumbs*
for anybody who read the previous entry (my magical whatever) and wondered what a satyr is, go
here >>
but remember folks, "while academic books and papers go through rigorous critiquing and editing by professors and other academics, the internet is completely unrefereed *so* take what u read with a pinch of salt" - margaret grose, circa march 2003
Thursday, April 10, 2003 ooh. and i did that magic personality quiz tooooooo !! ripped off from dee who got it from yifeng.
how bored am i .. (and so unoriginal *blush*)
Your Q Score is: 5
The Q score ideally should be as small as possible, indicating maximum agreement among elements. However, even a tiny Q score may not mean optimal functioning, since all four elements may in fact be relatively undeveloped.
Your Primary Mythical Creature
Air Types
The main strength of the Air types is intellect. The second element indicates the most probable focus for this intellectual activity.
Firebird
Air with Fire
Astrologically associated with Aquarius and the Eleventh House
Firebird types are idealistic and driven to achieve something of social or artistic value. They have a strong sense of social justice associated with powerful moral and religious convictions. These convictions are often chosen by the individual on the basis of reason rather than simply received from an existing tradition. They are brilliant at producing original ideas and creative solutions to problems and are good at inspiring others to put them into practice. They can be impatient for results. They hate routine and lose interest once a problem has been addressed, moving swiftly on to the next challenge. They are intense and need a high level of autonomy. They are sociable but goal-oriented. They have good leadership potential but are really more concerned with problem solving. They are unconventional and often radical.
Your Shadow Creature
Water Types
All the Water types have problems relating to feelings and closeness. The weakest element indicates the main focus of these problems.
Satyr
Water and Earth
This shadow is by turns self-neglecting and over-indulgent and exhibits lack of discipline and self-control. A proper diet is avoided while harmful practices are pursued to excess. They are very active physically and mentally but produce nothing lasting. They want power and can be ruthless in their attempts to get it. They are secretive, and don’t trust others because they themselves can’t be trusted. They have an urge to dominate others and can be insensitive to their emotional needs. They are plagued by an underlying sense of emptiness that explains an apparent self-destructiveness. The biggest obstacle of weak Earth is to overcome self-centeredness and greed; the biggest obstacle of weak Water is to overcome insensitivity and alienation.
i hope it's not just me being irrational or anything, but i'm feeling a little worried for yvonne. she hasn't updated her blog, and probably hasn't checked it for awhile. she hasn't commented on *anybody*'s blog for a long while .. and she doesn't have my number (and vice versa) ..
anyone with news let me know ya ?? then i can stop worrying.
Monday, April 07, 2003 ooh hey it's me. and have i got news foryou
massimo is getting married !!
for those who don't know who massimo is, he's consie's ex and also coincidentally, we went out for like *gasp* a whole week once ..
wow.
anyway, he's getting married to this chinese girl he's been going out with since last january. which also, coincidentally, was when him and consie were supposed to be together. wow. the stupid loser friends are pretty gleeful right now.
also, on the weather front .. it's @#(*&$ cold now. my fingers match the colour of derelyn's toes, which match the colour of her birkenstocks (purple). how's japan, dee ?????
finally, mid-semester reports are out and i'm happy to announce that although my design studio performance isn't "satisfactory", i'm happily well above borderline *yay*. apparently the people who devised this report format aren't too good at um .. formatting. there's only 3 categories for the tutor to choose from so we're either satisfactory, borderline and unsatisfactory . in other words, oh-kaaaay, semi-retarded and crap.
and this is supposed to save our asses in case we "accidentally, by some cruel twist of fate, fail our design unit. har har har."
good one, ali.
